Colorado Mesa University Announces Start Of Women’s Program

On March 1, Colorado Mesa University announced the addition of women’s wrestling as a varsity sport that will begin operation in the fall of 2018.

The School

Located in Grand Junction, Colorado, CMU was formerly known as Mesa State College. It is a public comprehensive university offering two-year associate degrees, four-year bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees. the university will be the first school in Colorado to join the WCWA. The co-ed student population is around 11,000. CMU is an NCAA – Division II school.

Okay, Schreiner University isn’t really the latest. They had made an announcement back in the summer of last year. At that time, however, given the amount of information which was provided, I simply did not feel confident enough to add them to the list maintained on this site.

Gannon University to Join WCWA for 2018-2019 Season; That Makes 42!

Not only is Gannon University the 42nd  program to join the WCWA, it is also first from the state of Pennsylvania. This NCAA Division II, is located in Erie, Pennsylvania and is a private Catholic institution offering associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The co-ed student body is made up of around 4,400 enrolled students. The Golden Knights intend to start their first season with a roster of about 20 student-athletes.

38 Schools In The WCWA for the 2018-2019 Season

That’s right! There might be at least 38 schools in the WCWA for the 2018-2019 Season. Nassau Community College (New York) and Tiffin University (Ohio) announced they would be adding women’s wrestling, in the fall of 2018, earlier this year and now two more schools have made the same announcement!

First, we have York College in York, Nebraska. It’s a private 4-year college affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The student body consists of about 450 undergraduate students.
