2019 CA-USA Wrestling Girls Freestyle State Championships Results for Intermediate, Novices and Cadets

Yesterday, Saturday, April 13, the first day of competition concluded at the 2019 CA-USA Wrestling Girls Freestyle State Championships, taking place at Selland Arena in Fresno. The results for the intermediate, novice and cadet age-groups follow.


Only two weight classes competed at this age-group for a total of six wrestlers; showing that, regardless of the sport’s impressive growth nationwide, California still has some work to do in freestyle participation at this age-group.

2019 CAUSA Cadet-JR Girls Folkstyle State Results

I’m a little late in posting this, but what else is new? It’s nice to see wrestlers continue their season beyond CIF. 104 wrestlers registered for the Cadet Girls division, a 17% percent drop from last year (126). In the Junior Girls division, 158 wrestlers registered versus 157 last year for a negligible increase. This is a concerning development and I can’t help but wonder if the way the California National Team is being chosen, well in advance of the state tournament, is affecting the turnout.

Congratulations to the Cadet Team California 2018 Fargo Team Champions

In a national tournament where 28 states fielded teams, the cadets of team California bested the rest of the teams with a total of 79 team points. New York. the second place team was a good 17 points behind with 62.

In individual results, Team California had 19 placers out of 33 wrestlers, including one champion and three finalists.

Good Luck to the 2018 California Cadet Team!

Starting tomorrow, July 14, at 7 AM Pacific time, the 32 members of the young cadet Team California will take the first step of what they each hope will be a journey toward a 2018 Marine Corps Women’s Cadet National Championship. Like in previous years, the championships will be taking place at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. Congratulations 2018 CA-USA Wrestling Cadet Freestyle State Placers

Yesterday, Saturday, April 21st, 86 cadet wrestlers competed for the right to call themselves freestyle state champions and a spot on Team California. As members of the national team, those wrestlers who accept to represent California will travel to Fargo, North Dakota and compete in the US Marines Cadet/Junior National Championships, taking place July 13th through July 18th, where they will have an opportunity to become a USA Wrestling national cadet/junior freestyle champion and/or all-American.
