46 CA wrestlers ranked in Latest National Rankings

The second edition of the National Girls High School rankings for the 2018-19 season has been released. The list is developed as a group effort between USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum. It recognizes the top 20 wrestlers in the country, across fourteen weight classes, as determined by the three entities’ criteria. The previous rankings came out last November. forty-six California wrestlers made it onto the latest edition of the list. But there is an issue with the list but more on that later. California All-Star Team is Looking for Wrestlers!

Coach Cecil Wilson of Eureka High School is looking for wrestlers who would like to be part of an all-star team that will travel to Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon and compete, on March 10th, in a three-way dual meet against all-star teams from Oregon and Washington. Sound interesting?


  • Any junior or senior girl in high school who is a state placer and will not be competing in Fresno (CA-USAW Folkstyle Championships are on the same day) qualifies

Which Programs Are The Best in The State?

In 2011, when the first official CIF girls wrestling state championships took place, 154 schools participated. That number had increased to 199 schools in 2016. Since that first championship tournament, 422 different schools have sent at least one wrestler to represent them. Programs have come and gone but there are a few that have continued to thrive year after year.

My apologies for the delay in posting these. I have been struggling with some technical difficulties on my end. Team California brought home the Junior Team Championship with a grand total of 115 points. New York took second with 37 points.
