2019 SCWAY Girls State Wrestling Tournament Results

This past Saturday, the third edition of the SCWAY Girls State Wrestling Tournament took place at Santiago High School in Corona. Scott Lawson, SCWAY State Director, stated that this year they had around 100 female wrestlers register. I hope the tournament continues to grow and provide female wrestlers more opportunities.

2019 CA-USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle Championships Girls Results

The 2019 CA-USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle Championships took place this past weekend. The California Grapplers came in first in each of the the three age divisions; intermediate, novice and schoolgirl. A total of 195 girls registered for the tournament, which is a 1% increase over last year’s 193. In comparison to the state tournament’s ten-year high, which was 202 in 2017, it appears girls’ age-group wrestling in the state is on a downward trend. CA Team Looking for Wrestlers to Compete in 2019 ORCA Senior Duals

Coach Cecil Wilson, of Eureka High School, wants to get the word out that he is looking for senior wrestlers for the 2019 ORCA Senior Duals. Once again, like last year, the three participating states (California, Washington and Oregon) will be fielding both men’s and women’s teams.

Coach Wilson is looking to fill fourteen weight classes (last year’s weights were: 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 155, 170, 190 and 235). You can read more below:
