Three More Women’s Wrestling Programs to Start in 2019

New Jersey City University

New Jersey City University, in Jersey City, New Jersey, has announced it will be adding women’s wrestling, as a club sport starting in the 2019-2020 season, before being elevated to full varsity status in Fall 2020.

NJCU, as it is also known, is a public liberal arts university. It consists of the NJCU School of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, and College of Professional Studies and 41 undergraduate study and 27 graduate degree programs. Augsburg University to Add Women’s Wrestling

Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota has announced it will be adding women’s wrestling starting in the 2019-2020 season. Augsburg is a private, liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It offers over 50 undergraduate and nine graduate degrees. It has a student body of nearly 3,600.

Simpson University to Add Women’s Wrestling

Simpson University in Redding, California has announced it will be adding women’s wrestling starting in the 2019-2020 season. Simpson is a private, liberal arts college affiliated with Christian and Missionary Alliance. It offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. It has a student body of just over a thousand.

The program’s inaugural head coach is Fan Zhang, who served as women’s head coach at Grays Harbor College last season. Coach Zhang is a seven-time national champion in China.

Grand View University Adds Women’s Wrestling

Grand View University, in Des Moines, Iowa, has announced its intention to add women’s wrestling as a varsity sport for the 2019-2020 season.

Grand View University Vikings

Grand View is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The school offers over 40 undergraduate programs and four master degree programs. Its pre-professional programs include medicine, law, pharmacy and physical therapy. Its 50-acre campus has an academic staff of 90 and a co-ed student body of around 2,000.

TWU and ESU to Add Women’s Wrestling for 2019-2020 Season

Texas Wesleyan University

Texas Wesleyan University, located in Fort Worth, Texas, has announced it will be adding women’s wrestling for the 2019-2020 season.

TWU is a private liberal arts university founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The School offer 27 areas of undergraduate study and offers graduate programs in business, education, counseling, nurse anesthesia and law. The 75 acre campus has a staff of 279 and a co-ed population of over 3,300.
