21 CA U16 Wrestlers Become All-Americans at the 2019 Folkstyle Nationals

The 2019 USA Wrestling/US Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle National Tournament is currently taking place at the Cox Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Yesterday, Friday, March 23rd, the U16 division was completed after one day of competition.

Team California came in first place, in the team title race, with 348.5 points. Team Michigan followed in 2nd with 142 and Wisconsin, with 135.5 points finished in third. The top ten teams follow:

Age Division Names Change for USA Wrestling

As of November 7th, the Executive Committee of USA Wrestling has approved a change to the names of age divisions used at all USA Wrestling Regional and National Championships. When spoken, the age division names read “9 and Under”for 9U, “12 and Under” for U12 and so on. This is being done to fall more in line with the naming conventions of other youth sports.

2018 Marines Western Regional Tournament Placers

This post is very late, nonetheless, congratulations to all the California wrestlers that placed at the 2018 Marines Western Regional Tournament which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada during the last week in April. Wrestler-girls participated in folkstyle, freestyle and, for the first time in the tournament’s history, Greco-Roman.

2018 Senior Women’s U.S Open Placers

Congratulations to all the California wrestlers that placed at the 2018 Senior Women’s U.S. Open which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada during the last week in April. California ended up with 17 placers; 11 of which will have an opportunity to earn a spot at one of the three Final X events that will decide the members of the latest U.S. Senior Women’s World Team. But to do that, they will have to win the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Rochester, Minnesota (May 18-19).

Congratulations to California’s Newest Crop of All-Americans

Team California Red WinsTitle by Defeating Team Texas 39-36

An exciting four days of wrestling were capped off, at the 2018 USAW/USMC Girls Folk & U23 Nationals at Oklahoma City, with a nail-biter of a final dual meet between California Team Red and Texas Team Red. In the round of 32, CA Red defeated the New Mexico Draw Team 77-0. They then went on to beat Team Colorado 62-12 in the round of 16.
