WCWA Regional Qualifiers Canceled

There Were Good Reasons

As some of you may know, the WCWA was scheduled to hold its regional qualifiers for this year’s National championships last weekend. However, these were canceled leaving many people wondering why. After inquiring as to the reasons for the cancellation, I received the answer via direct message on Twitter from the official WCWA account. There were 3 factors cited:

Grand View University Adds Women’s Wrestling

Grand View University, in Des Moines, Iowa, has announced its intention to add women’s wrestling as a varsity sport for the 2019-2020 season.

Grand View is a private liberal arts university affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The school offers over 40 undergraduate programs and four master degree programs. Its pre-professional programs include medicine, law, pharmacy and physical therapy. Its 50-acre campus has an academic staff of 90 and a co-ed student body of around 2,000.

TWU and ESU to Add Women’s Wrestling for 2019-2020 Season

Texas Wesleyan University

Texas Wesleyan University, located in Fort Worth, Texas, has announced it will be adding women’s wrestling for the 2019-2020 season.

TWU is a private liberal arts university founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The School offer 27 areas of undergraduate study and offers graduate programs in business, education, counseling, nurse anesthesia and law. The 75 acre campus has a staff of 279 and a co-ed population of over 3,300.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to Add Women’s Wrestling

WCWA will grow to 50 programs for the 2019-2020 season

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, has announced that it will add women’s wrestling as a varsity sport during the 2019-2020 season. The school is a public university granting associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees, as well as doctoral degrees in audiology. The 400 acre campus has a staff of 544 and its student body is made up of 9,643 coeds. In athletics, UWSP is an NCAA Division III school.

Delaware Valley and Alderson Broaddus Universities to Add Women’s Wrestling

WCWA up to 49 programs in 2019

Delaware Valley University

Delaware Valley University, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, has announced the addition of women’s wrestling as a varsity sport starting in the 2019-2020 season. The school is a private university offering 25 undergraduate majors, six master’s programs, and a doctoral program. The student body is made up of 1,700 full-time undergraduate students In athletics, DelVal is a NCAA Div. III school.
